Gamers love to use Discord as it allows them to interact with friends, team members, or fellow gamers. Many gamers rely on the Discord application to share their screens and game updates with others.

Discord lets you chat with your new and existing contacts over text, voice, and video. Here in this article, we will talk about how you can use Discord.

Following are the key aspects of Discord that we’ll be discussing in the upcoming sections:

  • Getting Started with Discord
  • Installing Discord Servers
  • Set Up Audio Visual Settings
  • Add Your Contacts
  • Screen Sharing on Discord

Getting Started with Discord

For using Discord, the first thing you need to do is to download and install it on your device. Once installed, you need to sign up and create an account with the help of some of your personal details. Discord is a completely free application so there is no cost involved with its usage. However, while setting up Discord and creating your account, it is recommended that you must use a strong password and enable Two-Factor Authentication to ensure the safety and security of your Discord account.

Setting Up Discord Servers

The Discord server has to be set up first. Discord has several servers. You can choose to join one or create one. No matter what you do, this platform will help you to connect with different gamer communities.

To create a Discord server, you have to hit the Create a server button after logging in instead of Join a server button. Once you name your server, you can add your friends or fellow gamers to different channels of your server.

Customizing Audio Visual Settings

  • You can select the user settings from the profile.
  • There, you will find all the required settings.
  • From the Voice and Video section, you can update the audio-visual settings. Once you assign a default microphone device, you can fix the sound for clarity. The sound quality can also be adjusted on the basis of your device.
  • There is a feature that allows you to incorporate your webcam with Discord. For this, you have to select the default camera as your computer’s webcam, and you can record a test video. Once it is recorded, you can fine-tune its visual quality.

The advanced audio codec settings by Opus can be activated to ensure better sound quality. Also, you can minimize the noise and echo by enabling noise reduction. Once you customize all the settings as per your requirements, you can host a live session or schedule video conferencing.

Add Your Contacts

In the Discord app, you can add your friends who have accounts in Discord. You can add multiple users to your Discord servers. There is a unique code that you can use to search for the particular gamer. All the public profiles have this tag with a set of 4 digit numbers that come with each account. Just ask your friend to send that code and add him using it. However, each user who receives the friend request needs to validate it.

Screen Sharing on Discord

While gaming, you can visit the Discord homepage and share updates with your friends and team. You can also make voice and video calls to your contacts. You can select more than one participant to start a group call.

Whoever you are calling first needs to approve and accept your call. You can initiate a voice call and convert it into a video call with a single click. You can also turn off the camera during a video call.

To share the screen and go back to the profile, choose Voice & Video mode. If you want you can share the entire desktop or just a single application window or a particular document.

If you like to then you can also share the whole browser tab. This is like Zoom or Go To Meeting, which you can use to share updates and organize meetings. It gives instant clarity, and the connectivity is also quite impressive. If at any point in time you are not ready to share, you can opt for the Stop Sharing option.

However, on the screen sharing interface, the Stop Sharing button is used to end a particular call and alternate voice and video mode during the calls. You can also mute your voice during the call. Discord Screen Share is a unique feature, and you can use it to share updates and live details with your team members and friends.
